Kate L. Turabian died in 1987 after the publication of the fifth edition, which was revised by members of the Press editorial staff; they also revised the sixth and seventh editions. For the seventh edition, Booth, Colomb and Williams expanded the focus of the book by adding extensive new material adapted from their book The craft of research.
Original edition published as: A manual for writers of term papers, theses, and dissertations / Kate L. Turabian. 1955.
Includes bibliographical references (pages 409-433) and index.
A little more than seventy-five years ago, Kate L. Turabian drafted a set of guidelines to help students understand how to write, cite, and formally submit research writing. Seven editions and more than nine million copies later, the name Turabian has become synonymous with best practices in research writing and style. Her Manual for Writers continues to be the gold standard for generations of college and graduate students in virtually all academic disciplines. Now in its eighth edition, A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations has been fully revised to meet the needs of todays writers and researchers
